Speaker Biographies

DR Carlos Galan-Diaz
Senior Impact Consultant, hivve.
Dr Carlos Galan-Diaz is an Environmental Psychologist passionate about upholding and demonstrating the value of excellent research with impact. His expertise includes impact evaluation, monitoring and
reporting, and strategic and operational leadership for the delivery of complex portfolios, such as REF. He has extensive liaison experience with the UKRI (formerly RCUK). Academically he has expertise in perspective-taking, well-being, and behaviour change and he is proficient with quantitative, qualitative and mixed methodologies. Before joining hivve he was Acting Director of Research & Innovation Services at the University of St Andrews.

DR Laura Kemp
Impact Consultant, hivve
Dr Laura Kemp has been an impact professional since 2017, working in a variety of roles within large, research-intensive universities including University of Cambridge and London School of Economics, where she was involved in the REF21 submissions for a number of UoAs. She has extensive experience of impact reporting and the creation of Impact Case Studies and Environment Statements, in addition to undertaking primary research on REF21 case studies for NCACE, funded by Research England. Her research background is in Spanish Cultural Studies and she has specialised knowledge of research collaborations with the arts and culture sector in the UK.
