Case Study – The Earthshot Prize

Aug 8, 2025 | Blog, Case Studies

The Earthshot Prize is a prestigious global environmental award designed to catalyse transformative change to protect and restore our planet. Each year, five groundbreaking solutions receive a GBP 1 million award to scale their impact.

Challenge

While nominees of The Earthshot Prize are leading innovators in environmental solutions, many face challenges in effectively showcasing their impact. Ventures want to understand how to systematically measure, evidence their outcomes and effectively communicate their achievements to investors, partners and broader audiences.

Solution

Earthshot partnered with hivve to deliver training and resources to their Finalists, enhancing their ability to demonstrate and articulate impact. hivve provided:

  • Practical tools and training on creating clear and compelling impact maps (Theory of Change) and improving impact measurement practices.
  • A  “drop-in” session, allowing nominees to ask questions, refine their impact maps, and gain advice tailored to their specific needs

Results

Finalists significantly improved their understanding to provide a consistent baseline understanding across the cohort of what impact reporting is and what good looks like.

Finalists can now effectively communicate the depth and breadth of their environmental and social impact effectively to diverse stakeholders.

Finalists learned about evidence and external frameworks and how different approaches to impact measurement deliver different levels of assurance

The overall capacity of nominees to attract further investment, partnerships, and stakeholder support was strengthened by understanding how they can clearly demonstrate their achievements and long-term potential for global impact

hivve’s training and tools were essential for our Finalists to help understand best practice in the world of impact measurement. The training session has equipped them with the tools they need to effectively communicate and evidence their environmental impact. The personalised support through the drop-in session helped them troubleshoot specific challenges. hivve have been a very knowledgeable and collaborative partner in this process, always incredibly generous with their support.
